Schedule of Classes
Registration
New Classes starting the week of May 5! We are adding a shorter semester for the spring and summer. These sessions will be six weeks instead of nine but you will still learn everything needed to make high fire pottery from beginning to end.
Times and days are the same as our nine week sessions just the duration and price have changed.
Six week sessions - $225
Spring session starting the week of May 5
Summer session starting the week of June 23.
This price still includes seven day a week open studio time and all materials.
We are also happy to schedule private lessons at $30.00 per hour.
The Mudpit is also glad to be able to offer private group lessons. Groups of 4 or more are $25.00 per person per hour. There are a minimum of two hours on group lessons.
Raku Workshops -
The Mudpit is the only NYC Ceramic studio to have a permanent Raku kiln on site. Call for more information.

Wheel-Throwing for Beginners
Through demonstrations and one on one guidance all students will learn to throw
on the wheel. Everything from centering to the finished piece will be
covered.

Intermediate Wheel
This class will take you to your next level of throwing. The class is
highly individualized to suit your skills and desires. Projects such as teapots,
lidded pots & altering and combining forms will be covered. Time will be spent
on glazing techniques & other surface treatments.

Tilemaking & Handbuilding

ALL LEVELS
The Tilemaking and Handbuilding class is a combined class. You pick your concentration and we take it from there. Our classes are kept small to allow for this highly individualized instruction. In Tilemaking you will learn to make tiles through stenciling, carving, press molds and drop out molds. In Handbuilding students will learn to make pieces through pinch, coil and slab technioques. In both areas students will learn to use a tilepress, slabroller and extruder.Firing fee for tiles is per tile by size.

Moldmaking/Slipcasting
ALL LEVELS
In this beginner class you will learn the basics of moldmaking. Two piece
and dropout molds will be taught. Time will also be spent on slipcasting.
Learn the advantages of casting for production and sculpture.

Have your children learn
handbuilding & wheelthrowing in a supportive & fun atmosphere.
Through projects designed for younger artists they will learn the
techniques to making pottery. All materials are included-clay, glazes,
tools & firing fees. The class is 8 weeks. Once a week for 1 1/2
hours. on

Registration
Classes are small to ensure
individualized instruction. A nonrefundable $50 deposit will hold your
space. Full payment is due at first class.The Mudpit is not responsible for providing makeup classes or giving refunds for programs or classes missed as a result of illness, emergency, weather closings or other events beyond our control. The Mudpit reserves the right to exclude from programs and activities anyone who fails to abide by the institutions rules and practices.
All classes except moldmaking are 9 weeks,
2 1/2 hours. once a week for $320. Moldmaking is 10 weeks for $350.**
Classes include all materials and 7 day a week open studio time. A small amount of
tools are required which can be purchased from the large selection at
the studio. Clay classes have a 4 cents per cubic inch firing fee.
