We have two classes sessions. 6 weeks for $225 or 9 weeks for $320.

Both sessions run at the same time. The days and times of classes are exactly the same, only the length of the class is different. Anyone registrered for the 6 week session wil be given the option of paying an additional fee of $115 to continue for an additional 3 weeks.We accept registration for the next session of classes up to 30 days in advance. You can pay for the class in full or leave a non refundable $50 deposit which will hold your space. The remainder is due at the first class. You can register by phone with credit card. We accept master card and visa. Or by mail with a check or credit card or in person with cash, check or credit card.

Classes

Classes are 2 hours once a week of instructed class. This includes clay, glazes and 7 day a week open studio time. This means you can come whenever you want during regular business hours and practice or work on your projects even if a class is in progress. We have a firing fee of 4 cents per cubic inch which covers the bisque and glaze firing.

Beginner wheel

Through demonstrations and one on one guidance all students will learn to throw on wheel. Everything from centering to glazing will be covered.

Mon: 7:00-9:00 PM. Tues: 7:00-9:00 PM. Sat : 12:00 -2:00 PM


Intermediate wheel

This class takes people to their next level of throwing. The class is highly individualized to suit the skills and needs of each person. Projects such as lids, teapots, altering and combining forms will be covered. Attention will also be given to advanced glazing techniques and other surface treatments.

Wed- 7:00-9:00 PM. Sat- 12:00-2:00


Tilemaking and Handbuilding

This is a combined class where you pick your concentration. Our classes are kept small to allow for this highly individualized instruction. In tilemaking you will learn to make tiles through stenciling, carving, slip techniques and drop out molds. In handbuilding students learn to make pieces through pinch, coil and slab. Different surface treatments and combining techniques are covered. Students will learn to use a tilepress, slabroller and extruder.Firing fee for tiles is per tile by size.

Moldmaking - Beginner to advanced

Beginners will be taught the basics of moldmaking including how to mix plaster, drop out and two piece molds as well as how to make models for plaster molds. Slipcasting and glazing will also be covered. With intermediate to advanced students a project will be determined between student and teacher where multi-piece molds are covered as well as altering pieces and making models through alternate methods.

Private lessons

We are happy to schedule private lessons at the rate $40 per hour.

The Mudpit can also schedule private group lessons. Group of 4 or more people are $30 per person per hour. There is a minimum of 2 hours on group lessons. All private lessons must be scheduled and paid for in full in advance. The date or time of private lessons may change with 24 hrs notice. There are no refunds.
The Mudpit has put together two private lesson packages. These are ideal for people who cannot commit to a class but want more than one lesson. These packages are also great as a gift.
