Mudpit
PhilosophyThe Mudpit is a very different and innovative studio. A long time dream of ours, The Mudpit is a place where you can work in clay with no restrictions at all. The Mudpit works in all aspects of clay so you can explore the many different facets of Ceramics all under one roof. This also enables you to combine techniques. You can throw on the wheel, do Mosaics, cast your work, hand build using our slab roller or extruder or even incorporate any one of our hundreds of molds into a piece. With our fully stocked retail area we have the tool to help you make the piece or the accessory to finish it off. From fountain pumps to honey dippers to wiring for lamps we have or will get you anything you need. The Mudpit also strives to be different
from the rest in other ways. We've heard many complaints about other
studios about cramped space, no room to store your work or have to wait
to use equipment or to get a piece fired.
We have four different clay bodies - Brown Stoneware, a White Porcelaneous Stoneware, Red Terracotta and a Raku claybody. Forty high fire glazes, twenty five low fire glazes and seven Raku glazes are at everyone's fingertips three hundred sixty five days a year. The studio is equipped with fourteen Electric wheels, a Kick wheel, a Treadle wheel, an Extruder, a Tile press, Spray booth, six Electric kilns, a Raku kiln and full Moldmaking and Slipcasting equipment. We have a retail section that is packed with all sorts of tools and accessories that will complete any project you may have. We even have a library of books for inspiration and additional education We have an outdoor patio
where you can go to have coffee, talk to other artists or just take a
break in the sun or under the stars. ------------------------------------------------------- |
